I am an Assistant Professor in the Economics Department at Tufts University. I am also an IZA Research Affiliate.  My research in labor and public economics uses applied econometric tools to evaluate and inform public policy.  My work includes studying the returns to military service, how workers and firms respond to tax and benefit policies, policing, and conflict.  I received my Ph.D. in economics from Boston University.  Prior to joining Tufts, I was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Sciences at West Point and a Research Analyst in the Army's Office of Economic and Manpower Analysis.
